What is Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)?
About
The development of wound or irritation such as rash or a pimple, causing inflammation and discoloration of the skin as the injury begins to heal.
It can develop in all skin types, but it tends to be more severe and extended for people with medium to dark complexions. PIH affects both men and women equally. [1]

Self-care: Always use a strong sunscreen. Avoid over exposure to sunlight. Monitor skin irritation and acne.
Medications: Topical creams consisting of alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), Hydroquinone, Azelaic Acid, Retinoids, Cysteamine, and Corticosteroids are generally prescribed for application on the affected area.
