PMLE is a common form of photosensitivity that occurs after exposure to light or artificial source of UV radiations.

PMLE is a common photodermatosis with a prevalence of more than 10–20% in the US and Western Europe. [1]

-Occurs in all skin type but is common in lighter skin
-Is short-term and usually goes away on its own

-Is also called polymorphic light eruption and polymorphous light eruption

Small bumps (papules)
Blisters
Burning
Swelling
Some rare symptoms include a headache, fever, nausea, and chill.

Treatment

Self-Care: Avoiding exposure to sun and artificial UV radiation, using sun protection such as sunscreen and SPF, and taking vitamin D supplements.

Medications: Antimalarial pills, immune-suppressing drugs, corticosteroid creams, and oral corticosteroids.
