About:

When Seborrheic dermatitis (inflammation of the skin) and Psoriasis (overgrowth of new cells) overlap each other, it results in sebopsoriasis.
Nearly 3% of the world’s population has some form of psoriasis. [1]

- Medical diagnosis is required if there is extreme redness and peeling of the skin
- Phototherapy can also be done
- Skin biopsy is rarely performed
- Symptoms of both seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis are observed

The factors that cause Sebopsoriasis has not been identified yet but there appears to be a family history in which either Seborrheic dermatitis and/or Psoriasis often exists.

Ages affected:

Ages 2 to 17 years - Most common
Ages 18 to 49 years - Common
Above 50 years - Most common

Symptoms:

Symptoms include scaly skin, red skin, extremely greasy skin and dry skin.
Self-diagnosable:
In case of occurrence of yellowish or deep red scales on the scalp, nasolabial folds, ears, eyebrows and face, the person should see a physician.

People may experience :
Plaques, itchiness, loss of hair and pain in the joints.

Treatment:

Self-care - Avoid applying cosmetic skin products that are harmful to the skin. Eat plenty of fruits & vegetables that are rich in antioxidants.

Medications - To reduce inflammation and cracking of the skin, drugs can be taken as per the doctor's prescription.
