When an oocyte (egg) is not released, it is called anovulation. Extreme body weight, high levels of stress, pituitary malfunction or thyroid dysfunction can cause anovulation. If a woman menstruates every 28 to 35 days, she has a normal ovulatory cycle.

Symptoms

Self–diagnosable
Irregular, light, infrequent or absent menstruation. Cycles shorter than 21 days and longer than 36 days.

People May Experience
Amenorrhea Absence of or infrequent menstruation can indicate ovary dysfunction
Body mass and hair increase body mass and facial hair are often associated with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Treatment

Self-Care: Quit smoking, avoid alcohol consumption, make changes to the diet and maintain a healthy weight. Moderate physical activities.
Medications: Take Clomiphene Citrate, Metformin, Clomid or Letrozole orally to treat the infertility. Low dose FSH, hCG or hMG therapy is also very effective.
