Acute Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate gland in men. It is caused by the bacteria that also cause Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).

Self-care: Avoiding alcohol, caffeine, spicy, and acidic foods can help reduce the inflammation. Along with this, sitting on a pillow or donut cushion, taking warm baths, and avoiding bicycling or wearing padded shorts can help reduce the pressure on the prostate.
Medication: After a thorough examination, doctors may prescribe antibiotics for a few weeks, alpha-blockers like Doxazosin, Terazosin, and Tamsulosin. The doctor may also recommend pain relievers.
