Erysipelas is a bacterial formation in the skin that can be dangerous if not treated.

Generally young children (especially 2 to 6 years old) and adults over the age of 60 are more likely to develop erysipelas. [1]

Symptoms may include stark pain the infected portion of the skin with fever and chills accompanied by the inability to work.

People may also experience:
1. Pain in the face, hand and legs
2. Blisters on the outer layers, which can swell, and be extremely painful
3. Unexplained redness, swelling, irritation and rash on the skin

Treatment

Self Care:
For swollen glands or skin irritation, rubbing the skin gently and taking care of the infected part can reduce further damage.

Medications:
Anti-inflammatory drugs can be taken under doctor’s guidance and prescription.
