Seroma have the appearance of a large cyst like a swollen lump. It develops after a surgical procedure, mostly where a tissue was removed. These can be formed after surgeries like body contouring, breast augmentation or mastectomy, hernia repair and abdominoplasty. They tend to appear 7 to 10 days after surgery after drainage tubes have been removed.

- Swelling

Treatment

Self-Care: A heating pad or hot compress can be applied to help with fluid drainage while providing additional comfort to the incision area.

Fine-needle aspiration: It is sometimes used to drain the area. It is also a good way to monitor the volume of fluid leakage.
