How to Prevent the Prediabetic State from Progressing to Type 2 Diabetes?
About
Prediabetic state or borderline diabetes is a state in which the patient does not have sugar level high enough to be type 2 diabetes, but it is higher than normal.
Approximately 84 million American adults—more than 1 out of 3—have prediabetes. [1]
-Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1C) test is required
-Fasting blood sugar test is required
-Oral glucose tolerance test is required during pregnancy
Family history and genetics play role in prediabetes. Inactivity and excessive fat is another cause of prediabetes. Glucose in the body comes from the food we eat. When the sugar in the body does not reach the cells it creates excessive sugar in the bloodstream. Insulin plays the role in moving sugar from the bloodstream to cells. In prediabetes, the production of insulin decreases which leads to an increase in the level of sugar in the bloodstream.
Symptoms:
-Darkened skin in some parts of the body such as neck, armpits, knuckles, elbow, and knees.
