Uses of Actifed tablet

Actifed tablet is utilized in the treatment of cold symptoms. It works by narrowing down tiny blood vessels, mitigating blockage or clogging of the nose as well as relieving allergy traits including sneezing, runny nose, itching, inflammation, and watery eyes.

Side Effects Actifed tablet

  • Dryness in the mouth, nose, and throat, headaches, drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, upset stomach, and disturbed sleep are the most common of side effects. It is important to inform your doctor if any of these effects persist or worsen because of continued usage. You can take a blood test at home before taking up the medication for best treatment.
  • Mental and mood changes including general confusion and hallucinations, as well as difficulty passing urine, ringing in the ears, and vision impairment can also occur.

  • Taking Actifed tablets along with MAO inhibitors including selegiline, isocarboxazid, moclobemide, linezolid, phenelzine, methylene blue, procarbazine, safinamide, tranylcypromine, and rasagiline) could result in serious complications. It is also recommended that anyone on MAO inhibitors stop taking them at least two weeks before starting on Actifed tablets.
  • It is important to inform your doctor if you are on products or medications that cause drowsiness, before taking Actifed tablet. These include opioids, pain suppressants, marijuana, alcohol, sleeping pills, muscle relaxants, and anxiety meds (like lorazepam, alprazolam, zolpidem)
  • It is best to avoid taking Actifed medicine if you’re scheduled to undergo any lab or drug tests (including brain scans, urine/stool tests) as it might result in false results. Inform the lab staff and your doctor if you’re doing so.

Dosage Instructions

  • The use of Actifed tablets is not recommended for children under the age of 12 as it might result in death.
  • The recommended dosage of Actifed tablet for adults and kids over the age of 12 is one tablet every four hours and no more than six tablets every 24 hours.
