(1) Eat a balanced diet:
Food may not necessarily cure or prevent psoriasis, but eating a balanced diet can help relieve symptoms of psoriasis. Include more of essential fatty foods that can help lessen the inflammation.
Include the following foods into your diet:
– Salmon
– Mackerel
– Peas
– Chickpeas
– Beans
– Soyabeans
– Peanuts
– Extra virgin oil
– Vegetables

– Whole grains

Obesity is a risk factor for psoriasis and psoriasis flare-ups. In addition to it, being overweight also increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and diabetes. Following are some low-impact exercises that you can easily do to lose weight at home effectively:
– Jumping jacks
– Mountain climbers
– Power yoga
– Lunges
– Spot running
– Assisted squats
Physical workouts help you lose weight, reduce inflammation, stress, improve cardiovascular strength, and help prevent diabetes.

Ultraviolet rays in the sunlight help treat mild to moderate symptoms of psoriasis by reducing the rate of skin growth and shedding. The sunlight helps reduce psoriasis symptoms and makes your body produce more Vitamin D.
Consider the following guidelines when stepping out in the sun:
– Wear sunglasses
– Apply sunscreen to all areas of unaffected skin
– Step out when the sun is at its strongest for not more than ten minutes.
Although sunlight is beneficial, you should also be wary of sunburns which can cause new psoriasis flare-ups.
(5) Aloe vera:
Applying aloe vera over the affected skin helps effectively reduce redness and irritation caused by psoriasis. Though more research is needed, few studies have shown benefits.
To use aloe vera, apply a cream with aloe vera gel to the affected area of the skin. You may have to do this several times a day for a few weeks to notice a difference.
(6) Try turmeric:
Even though there have not been large clinical trials on the use of turmeric in treating psoriasis, smaller studies have shown that using turmeric gel can help alleviate the symptoms of psoriasis.
Also, in another experiment conducted by Miguel Carrion-Gutierrez and his team in 2015 on patients with moderate to severe psoriasis, they found that a combination of turmeric extracts (taken orally) and visible light therapy helped reduce the severity of psoriasis and hence could be beneficial.
(7) Stress-relieving activities
Stress is another known trigger factor for psoriasis flare-ups.
Finding ways to manage what is causing you stress can help you find relief.
