Introduction
Blood pressure can now be easily monitored using your mobile phones. All you have to do is place your index finger on your phone’s flashlight, and you are good to go — within 30 seconds, you can see your test results! The MFine BP Monitor uses Machine Learning algorithms to measure BP with close to 90 per cent accuracy.
How does it work?
The MFine BP monitor tracker system uses a low-cost, state-of-the-art Photoplethysmography (PPG) optic technique to measure blood pressure.
When light is passed through your finger, the photodetector on your phone measures the reflected light from your blood. This reflected light is proportional to the changes in your blood volume variations that occur as a result of your heartbeats. These photo signals are then converted to systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings.
Why is it important?
Periodically monitoring your BP can alert you to potential health risks. The MFine BP monitor also helps you keep track of your ongoing treatments. They are non-invasive, easy to use, and take only about 30 seconds to measure your blood pressure.

Is the MFine BP monitor accurate?
A lot has been discussed on the accuracy of BP tracker tools. These tools sound interesting. They are easy to use and convenient to measure blood pressure anytime, anywhere. But are they really accurate? Let’s have a look.
Methodology
How accurate is the MFine BP monitor — let’s quickly run you through the process used to collect data from 3000 individuals.
Individuals involved in the study were briefed about the experiment. Their permission was sought to collect information on their health vitals. All data collected were confidential and were only used to optimize the BP tracker system.
1) BP was measured using a sphygmomanometer, a digital BP monitor, and the MFine BP monitor in each individual involved in the experiment.
2) Individuals were asked to measure their own readings using the digital BP monitor and MFine BP monitor. This was done to check the use of easability of all devices used.
3) Sphygmomanometer readings were taken by the doctor.
4) Readings were recorded from each of these tools.
5) The existing tracker algorithms were then fine-tuned to build a robust clinical-grade BP tracker system using the collected data.
Results of the experiment showed an accuracy of about 90 percent.
However, please note, using MFine’s BP Monitor measurement is only advised for general well-being and fitness. It’s not intended for medical use.
What are the benefits of using MFine BP monitor over a sphygmomanometer and digital BP monitor?
In the experiment conducted, individuals were asked about the ease of using each of the following BP measuring tools — sphygmomanometer, digital BP monitor, and MFine BP monitor. Individuals were also asked about their overall feedback and experience. Based on the feedback provided by individuals, here are some benefits of using the MFine BP monitor over other tools.
– Use of easability: unlike other BP measuring tools, the MFine BP monitor tracker is easier to use. All you have to do is place your finger on the phone’s camera, and that’s it. In 30 seconds, you get your test results.
– Portability: The other benefit of using an MFine BP monitor over other blood pressure measuring tools is its portability. You can measure your BP anywhere, anyplace.
